TEDxSacramento offers the opportunity to escape your regular routine and go on an intellectual journey with 700 smart and curious friends to a completely immersive experience and world filled with brilliant speakers, captivating performances, amazing new technologies, and thought-provoking talks.
In 2012, our speakers hailed from five continents, and past speakers have included a Nobel Lauriate, an extreme mountain climber, a National Geographic photographer, an ultra-marathon runner, a game theorists, a robot manufacturer, a partner from IDEO, an inventor from the MIT Media Lab, one of the original designers of Second Life, and a young man from Uganda who has affected the lives of tens of thousands in his home country with a simple idea. We have also given a voice to the best ideas emmanating from our great region. Our talks have been viewed by as many as 40,000 viewers from across the globe.
But, ultimately, it is you that makes our events so special. We are offering a TED-like experience in the heart of Sacramento and a big part of that experience is the interaction with your fellow attendees and speakers. Our events attract some of the smartest and most creative people in the area, like you, who look at the world and ask themselves how they fit in it, how can they make it better.
This year's theme is "Confluence". Our city was founded where rivers collide and become something new, something bigger. We now have the opportunity to move forward as a city where ideas and people can multiply and increase their impact by coming together.
